Ok, first off, I know a smart charger is the way to go.  Let's forget that for now.  Standard wall charger = 250 mA output -- 8.4 stick battery = 1400 mAH.  I was told that if you divide the 1400 by the 250, it will give you the charge time.  In my case, it is 5.6 hours.  Can anyone confirm that?

Yeah, I just gotta make sure you know that that's 5 hours and 36 minutes, not 5 hours and 6 minutes or 6 hours or any random number.

You have to take the .6 part and multiply it by the 60 minutes in an hour to get the minute count. You wouldn't believe how many r-tards mess that up.

Thanx Lone... I had just rounded down to 5 hours 30 minutes.  After I posted the question, I found it in a few places online, so thanx for the confirmation.

Cheers

No problem.

Where are you from, by-the-way? The only people I've heard that genuinely say, "Cheers," are Canadians.

From Cali, been in Lafayette, Louisiana for the last 15-16 years, but have worked for Schlumberger 14 of those years.  Traveling to different places, you tend to pick up stuff like that every once in a while.

Really, its not that big of a deal to calculate down to the minute for charging a battery. If you calculate 5hr 36min for charging the battery, then its not considered over charging if you were to charge 6 hours. 5-6 hours is fine.
